if someone's all turned around about you enough that they lead with a confession of love instead of, like, a regular flirtation, you can let them down easy and say you still wanna be friends, but it's up to them to get over it, with time. not much in your power there.

It’s too late for that now, though — they’re all laughing at how weird and awkward he is every chance they get.
I’m too far gone. I can’t just say I’m into him now, after weeks of staying quiet while they roast him (in private ofc, they’re not bullies).
Anyways… I should’ve told them sooner. Maybe you can avoid this mess by not following in my footsteps.

⚠️i feel like there’s such an all or nothing culture around friendship these days — what it really comes down to is: do you feel comfortable continuing to have this person in your life? is it always going to be nagging at the back of your mind that they might not respect u/ur relationship? you don’t have to make a decision right now! but going forward it’s something to keep in mind — if I were you I might not trust this person with vulnerable information, I would be less emotionally invested in them, and I would be extra skeptical of their words/actions. but maybe they’re still fun to hang out with sometimes; I don’t think that’s a crime. although I would def keep them away from boyfriend. does it mean you never have to speak to them again? no — unless you find yourself worrying about it and resenting them! in that case you’re totally justified to move on with your life without them in it. ultimately I think boyfriend should say to (sober) friend hey that was super uncool and don’t do that again. it shouldn’t be your responsibility to deal with this. idk tho that’s just my onion 💯
