if you expect everything you make to be a masterpiece you’ll never get started on anything….let yourself make “bad” stuff in order to get to the “good” stuff

if you are trying to get tickets for imax 70mm showing of dune part two at lincoln square amc in nyc (they just went on sale) i recommend using "Atom" as your ticket broker thing because it seems to have the fastest/easiest way to switch between seatmaps of different time/dates. so if you're looking for a screening with centered seats in the back row then you will appreciate the UI for Atom. although also it is a bit slow and site maybe crashing since everyone wants that worm and im not talking about timothee chalamets pecker edit: and if im wrong abuot this then let me know

Staying at the Roxy in NY (formerly the Tribeca Grand) is akin to being on an elegant cruise in Manhattan. It’s my home away from home in the city. Everything is there: from live jazz in the massive atrium lobby with the glass elevator zipping up and down and the divine food and drinks (I recommend the lobster roll and a mescal cocktail) in recessed leather booths shaped like teacups, to the gorgeous red velvet theater below - which offers the best films on screen in Manhattan - curated by the brilliant Illyse Singer. After attending a killer film and fascinating Q&A, retreat to the Django, the speakeasy next door, which stays open til 4AM and is often where the hottest underground music acts play… What else could you ask for?

This is a Rec on how to stay sane, not how to get out, unfortunately. I have been (mostly) unemployed for like almost a year aside from short stints or gigs. it’s been awful awful awful BUT AMC A List became my light at the end of the tunnel, truly. $25 a month for 3 “free” movies every week. I use it as a treat after trudging through applications or to have something to look forward to. And, yes, you can watch as many free movies as you want on your laptop in your room but having a place to go or a plan at the end of a grueling day is great.

genuinely believe journaling has saved my mental health but doing it in public alone is such a better alternative to going on your phone and also if you have a pretty notebook it's a great conversation starter

maggie nelson says “loneliness is solitude with a problem” and wrote about how if one does one’s solitude right, the prize is an ability to love without losing yourself entirely. this has really helped me reframe how i see the past few years of feeling lonely and my discomfort with being single - these days i’ve been sorta leaning into my “solitude” and just really working on coming back to myself and my identity, and trying to see myself as whole even while on my own + appreciating the platonic love i already have in my life
