Never properly played this one before, my eyes hurt from immersing myself into this town of sin and tragedy. making me want to read more James Ellroy.

Flawed, but still very good game and need to play it again now that its been like 12 or so years for me. There was also a great article where a writer played it with his dad who had grown up in 50's LA that greatly enhanced my postgame appreciation of what they achieved.

jrpaperstack that sounds interesting can feel so much work in the world etc but in a way very distinct from how games build environments nowadays

Truly such a great game, just sucks it’s not really something you replay more than once.

so damn good. currently reading the lady in the lake and man it rips. I love the sense of humor, the descriptions , the storytellin. read some of James Cain earlier this year. even though these works are almost a century old the themes feel v relevant & human.

old-school Hollywood pulp fiction author. Just finished "The Big Sleep" and the writing is so punchy and fun. It's also romantic in a way to read about how my neighborhood was 90 years ago.
