...and go from there. I didn't pick up crochet for years despite having the tools, because I never really wanted to wear any of the patterns I saw. Then I learnt you could crochet hats, bralettes and ridiculous, fun vegetable shaped cushions. So last year I finally moved past the chains. Youtube has a lot of beginner friendly patterns!

I really really wanted to make a checkered hat, and attempting to knit my own pattern took too long so I learnt crochet last summer instead. I also agree with the tips below!

I've been crocheting for about 3 years now and I love it. It's so rewarding when you finally finish a project you've been working on. I love being able to wear and use the items I've been making. It's good if you just want something to do with your hands whilst watching TV but you can also choose more complicated patterns if you want to really focus on something. YouTube is a really good place to get started as there's loads of tutorials.

- watch yt tutorials!!!!
- start with learning how to chain
- start making granny squares until you get comfortable
- crop tops are good beginner projects (if you wear them)
- also cat ear beanies

This is what I call it hahahah made by mums everywhere but the greased up version is sold along stalls in Mumbai. Two regular slices of white bread, buttered, and the middle filling is cream cheese with red onions, coriander/cilantro, tomatoes and some minced chillis. All veggies chopped mini cube size so they blend with the cheese. Toasted crispy.
