Rec'd on 🥀 fav movies/books/TV you'd call "southern gothic"

Both the Gillian Flynn book and the tv show with Amy Adams. I watched the show first and was absolutely entranced. Then I read the book, and even though I knew the ending I couldn’t put it down.
“It follows Camille Preaker (portrayed by Adams), an emotionally troubled reporter who returns to her hometown to cover the murders of two young girls.”

Omg, heavy rec-rec!!! The show is perfect, I rewatch it every so often because it stuck with me so deeply. I read the book after and was so pleased how well the show did by it.

mossyelfie Same!!!! Gone Girl and Sharp Objects are perfect adaptations of the books… I don’t acknowledge or speak of the Dark Places movie even though I feel like it’s my favorite of her books because it is so depressingly bad

But because it’s an adaptation of a Gillian Flynn novel (author of Gone Girl) it’s more vicious/bleak/graphic/twisted. So good in a totally different way and it made me fall in love with Amy Adams. RIP Jean-Marc Vallée :(

It’s directed by Jean Marc-Valle who did the first season of BLL. Based off a Gillian Flynn book.

gillian flynn books

gillian flynn is one of my favorite authors i would mostly recommend the books dark places out of the books i’ve read by her it has to be one of the best. if you want a less long book definitely sharp objects
