forgot how much i love em and then got caught in a rainstorm and took shelter in my local council run library. Such a great selection! a space with no pressure to do or buy anything! What a luxury to be able to just hang around in a public place.

this is a good time to inform the masses that a library card gives you access to kanopy, a platform where you can watch hundreds of films for free! the selection varies according to the library you're under but the range of films is truly quite impressive! you get the criterion collection if you're lucky

mouse you probably have libby or overdrive or some other similar service, lots of people don't realize that library services vary by location/region. Small towns are usually limited but partner with nearest cities, might just need to ask a librarian if you can't find the info.

man, libraries ROCK !!!! what do you mean i can just chill here in this chair... in this warm building with high ceilings... all of these shelves full of delights like graphic novels and how to speak another language... and then i can take my favourite books home... FOR FREE ?!?! i am so happy i left the house to go to the library today

My local library

I took out a library membership with my local council and it’s been great! I initially got it to borrow books, but the libraries host lots of free events and activities, and you can hang out in the comfy chairs or use the desks for as long as you want. It really makes you realise how little truly free spaces exist.

THE PUBLIC LIBRARY

I simply love the library. I just moved to a new city and I’m looking for work and I can plop myself down in the library, go on my laptop and look for jobs, leaf thru some books, the membership gets me free tix to cultural institutions and free streaming, in my branch there is even a cute patio with comfy chairs to work outside! A blessing and one public thing US cities do really well
