i wish i was joking but i’m diagnosed and they have been the biggest help for my adhd since i got them prescribed... but non-meds wise: i made another post about organizing stuff recently, i’ve also found some apps to be super helpful: flora (pomodoro focus app), screenzen (best way to manage screen time), waterllama (manage water intake), + gcal and google tasks (turn on notifs, use both religiously). the eisenhower matrix is a weird but useful way to think through task prioritization; writing out things to do step by step as a to do list can also be helpful (i.e. instead of just “write paper” break down all the steps from reading/bibliography to final edits)

the shortage/me feeling like normal spongebob on adhd meds had me set up a whole system otherwise i would be a hot mess handwritten paper planner - pref one with a weekly timeline because i love seeing it laid out in full. this is 50% me just wanting to decorate and use fun stationary and 50% knowing if i dont write it down/see it laid out- i will forget </3 digital calendar/reminders - for the big stuff!! Anything reoccurring that may slip my mind, color coded based on whats going on ie, work shifts, reoccurring plans w friends, personal time for hobbies, i also have a bunch of reminders that try to get me to sleep/keep me on track and its been the best, i luv that includes travel time too and will remind me 15-30 mins in advance of when i need to leave bc i love to get wrapped up/ lose track of time and run out of the door

i have adhd lol so i have found organizational tools have really helped, for me some of those are: small trinket tray on nightstand for jewelry i take off w/o putting away; memento box for tickets, bday cards etc; categorized bins beneath my bed (mine are - nightly stuff like meds, journal, tarot / art supplies / makeup & skincare / tote bags, binoculars, gloves, etc); hooks on my wall for my coat and for covid masks; laundry bin that has 3 sections so i can separate by the frequency i wear stuff; accordion folder for important documents

i’ve always felt soooo bogged down by any kind of scheduled events in my life, even if it’s something fun that i should theoretically look forward to. call it ADHD, PDA autism, idk- but to mitigate this dread i find it helpful to write everything down in an online planner (use whatever system works for you). some tips: 1. writing down every little thing enables me to see it all in one place and not worry that there’s something else i’ve forgotten about. knowing i have even just one or two things coming up can feel overwhelming but as soon as i can actually see each item in front of me, it feels a lot less daunting. 2. looking at my schedule every morning helps me mentally prepare for the day 3. i used to spend so much energy thinking about an upcoming activity for the entire day leading up to it because i didn’t want to accidentally forget about it. now, i set alarms for when i need to start preparing for an activity- that way i can put it out of my mind until i actually need to start thinking about it. i know some people feel really burdened by planners/calendars (i refused for the longest time because i like spontaneity and not feeling tied down) but just give it a try and seeee

being traditionally cool is really quite boring and iterative, and it’s actually very cool and sexy to geek out about something you like or share bits of knowledge on a topic you’re passionate about

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WORKER’S DAY!!!! i love having a union, i love being a union steward and getting to support my unit. when my union won its contract, i got a pay bump, better benefits, and increased protection as a worker. 🥳 unions help address racial and gender pay gaps, issues workplaces impose on families and those having kids, addressing unsafe conditions, plus things like better health insurance, wages and overtime, weingarten rights to representation, and more!!! if you don’t have a union but are thinking about forming one, check out AFL-CIO’s page (linked) or Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee. there’s always more power in a union!! ✊🥖🌹
i had it for a little over a year until i was like wow this is actually terrible! i genuinely think it has negatively impacted society by ruining people’s attention spans, having a horrific algorithm, and most of all by the most mind-numbing or outright harmful trends - fake words that people now use IRL (“unalive”), trad wife tiktok, shein hauls, body-focused fitness vids that encourage fatphobia and unhealthy habits, shallow political/feminist theory and queer discourse, “alpha male” podcaster tiktok, encouraging overconsumption in general, trends ruining local spots or niche things… the list goes on
