Gazpacho only in the late summer, persimmons only in the winter, etc. just because we can import anything from anywhere anytime doesn’t mean we should. Nothing is special if you can have it whenever you want it.

I have been saying this for the longest time. living seasonally Is what makes us more human. What’s the point in eating genetically modified strawberries that of Nothing in december, when you can look forward to PICKING them in July?!? also if we’re going to continue living this way I propose mulled wine all. year. round.

summer just started, so whats in season?
i’m trying to unlearn a lot of forms of convenience and being thankful for what the earth allows, so i’m starting to only buy in season produce this year. here’s what in season for summer if you’d like to join me: fruits: berries, watermelons and stone fruits veg: carrots, corn, asparagus, beets, peas, cucumber, eggplant, herbs, tomato, zucchini and squash there’s lots of variety in the things you can make in the summer and this is the time these fruits and veggies will be at their best. a tip: try buying your herbs now and freezing or drying them for easy use later in the year :)
