Not sure what kinda style you like, but for your bedding, I highly recommend layers! if you got a duvet, get 2 inserts to make it full and fluffy. Then a soft blanket folded out on top (that can also be a different texture) of the duvet cover. I have two pillows and a body pillow that are different colors (body pillow is a moss green and the two standards are black). Maybe some decor pillows? I’ve seen some Pinterest posts where people get fabrics and they place them around on their walls as decoration. then they hang stuff up on them. It looks so cool. Kind of like the whimsical look. Again, this all really depends on your style, but if you’re down for it, make each room its own character, but of course with some continuity when needed. For example, my living room is red and black. I have a few posters up and hand made things decorated around that were given by friends. My dining room is Forrest green and black. I have a crusades painting up with daggers on the sides. It help that the balcony allows a little light in. The continuity for both rooms is the black furniture. Just have fun with it. It’s your space! keep in mind that if it doesn’t work in one room, it can be replaced or repurposed :)

So much that goes into this… consider the colors outside that you can see through the windows, the natural colors of your local environment, any particular seasonal colors you find yourself gravitating towards (I love autumnal tones)! And don’t forget about paint finish and textural application techniques 😍 If you live in a particularly sunny/warm or gloomy/rainy environment and want to counteract or enhance those pick colors accordingly. I would also suggest looking into color psychology like if you’re depressed a lot of the time and would like to feel uplifted use bright sunny colors but if you often feel anxious and want to feel more sedated choose something less mentally stimulating. Pick colors that would look good with the furniture and art you have or want to have… Curtains and rugs can be a beautiful way to add large swaths of color and texture too…. I love light filtered through a pink orange or golden curtain! And you cannot go wrong with deep rich jewel toned walls in different colors for every room if you want something impactful imo. I’m sick in the head so I always love a good crisp white wall and adding color everywhere else. The walls in my rental house (I am NOT going to paint) are mostly varying shades of blue and gray which I thought I would hate but surprisingly I love them and find them soothing. I have a little sunroom with pale green walls that looks out into a lush verdant backyard with gorgeous trees and I love that combination! GO CRAZY WITH FREE PAINT CHIPS tape them all up on the walls and see what clicks for you!!

I only recently dedicated my nesting process to my bedroom, I put a lot of effort into the other spaces of my lofted studio. Bought some sheer curtains from the thrift store and kinda just started pinning it in place. I saw I painting of a moon on TikTok and decided to recreate it for myself. I wrapped my hand-me-down 7-year old viney monstera around my bed frame and bough twinkle lights to drape within the aforementioned fabric. So far really liking it. Working on some felt stuffed stars to suspend from the drapery. Taking suggestions for the walls!

my advice would be - get the big furniture pieces first, because in the end they dictate the general vibe and design of your space, and compliment them with smaller pieces like lamps rugs etc. also, try to think ahead a bit and DONT buy trendy furniture. don’t go overboard with color because you WILL get tired of it. remember, people are most comfortable in spaces and colors resembling nature the most. ahhhh generally take it slow? i understand the excitement about furnishing your space but finding your style take a lot of time. and if you have the resources try to invest in good quality furniture!

This year has been tough as I’ve been working on myself. the biggest thing I struggle with is patience. I’ve noticed that we react so quickly sometimes, good or bad, instead of processing things and having a clear idea. With me, I noticed when someone is learning something new, I get impatient and want to tell them how to do it versus letting them figure it out. Ive felt and noticed that I’m rushing too much. To get to work, to go home, to get ready, to go to the gym, to finish a task, etc. I don’t take in the day or smell the flowers. I don’t let time remain as is because I am trying my best to get so much done before the sun goes down. Over the past 5 months, I started to change my pace. I timed my days better to allow me to take in more details. I noticed things clearly for what they were and not shrugging them off as usual. I’m still learning and practicing a slower pace. I remain in my bubble, but aware of my actions and thoughts. Aware of when my patience becomes non existent and when it’s not enough. And no matter where I go or who I’m with, I remind myself: be patient.
