and donā€™t do any errands or cleaning that day, just like set a little budget ā€” get a book and read it in the park with a snack, or take yourself out to coffee / people watch and then go see a movie or two. or go to a museum right when it opens and then get lunch (outside!) for yourself and pick something else to do after. for me, at least one part has to be artistic (book/film/art) and another has to be outside (most important part) then at the end of the day, find a good spot to watch the sunset and journal about your day and feelings!! it feels better because youā€™ll be in less of a slump after a nice day and will have a lighter mood to be thinking about whatā€™s up lastlyā€¦ go home and do a full shower, do the most relaxing possible version of your nightly routine (and no scrolling social media). if you can, wash your sheets a day or two before and put on a fresh set of PJs that night tooā€¦ it makes crawling into bed that much better (also bonus points if you meditate before you fall asleep) i find this (one-day vacation? 12 hr solo date?) is a really nice way to reset my brain when everything is overwhelming or i feel like iā€™m stuck not doing much besides going through the motions. i tend to do it every few weeks lately and it is surprisingly refreshing āœØ

Even if you cannot take time off from work or school or go on vacation somewhere, I like to take time to do absolutely nothing. Even things I do for fun like watch movies or read books, I have reading goals or a watchlist or movie challenge so it takes away the enjoyment. When I do absolutely nothing like take a nap or spend the day in bed, it really clears my mind.

Sometimes you just need to go on a city walk , solo date , get dolled up and wear your best outfit , go perfume shopping grab a croissant or a yummy sweet treat itā€™s my therapy and I always feel happy after and I love to write in my journal about the day or write in my Substack everything I did that day with my community

Iā€™ve learned that returning from a trip on a Sunday night and then going right back to work is often not worth it. My sweet spot is to come back on a Friday and then have a weekend at home to chill and do life chores before resuming work. Ideal if you can also book some low key fun and/or relaxing activities when youā€™re back. A massage, an off-the-beaten track restaurant, a long walk. Preserve the exploratory, vacation mood so youā€™re not just doing chores. Huge sub rec: When I go on a vacation vacation (time off from work, not just changing location), I always like to take a digital detox. I find that doing that resets my brain and helps me return to reality with a much healthier relationship to my phone and modern life busy work like processing emails. In an ideal world, I keep the phone off for a couple days post the travel (or at least donā€™t respond yet to missed messages). It helps taper the transition and make it less like ā€œoh fuck that wasnā€™t my life and now I have to do my dumb lil job and catch up on my digital correspondence.ā€

being traditionally cool is really quite boring and iterative, and itā€™s actually very cool and sexy to geek out about something you like or share bits of knowledge on a topic youā€™re passionate about

i had it for a little over a year until i was like wow this is actually terrible! i genuinely think it has negatively impacted society by ruining peopleā€™s attention spans, having a horrific algorithm, and most of all by the most mind-numbing or outright harmful trends - fake words that people now use IRL (ā€œunaliveā€), trad wife tiktok, shein hauls, body-focused fitness vids that encourage fatphobia and unhealthy habits, shallow political/feminist theory and queer discourse, ā€œalpha maleā€ podcaster tiktok, encouraging overconsumption in general, trends ruining local spots or niche thingsā€¦ the list goes on
