When I make a playlist, the two things I like to think about are cohesiveness (do these songs sound good together, is there a jarring transition between tracks, do they communicate complimentary things (that can be sound, tone, genre, even a sort of consistent instrumental motif)), and texture (is this interesting, is it samey, or too easy listening)
When I think about Spotify’s daylist, it can sometimes be samey— they pick songs I like, but one after another they blend into coffeehouse music. What you have, that the algorithm will never have, is taste and an ear for the narrative of a playlist. I tend to make 8 tracks, because that’s what fit on my CDs; try starting with a track number.

As much as shoegaze/dreampop has affected my life, Night Tapes was the best one so far.
Blending atmospheric night time soundscapes, astral synth work, multi-fidelity recordings and dreamy guitars. They push escapist dreamрор style so far with their work.

-The Right Opinion, mostly deep dives on different pop culture topics, but his trilogy on Onision really does feel like a true crime doc. rec: His Onision series + "The Never-Ending Nightmare Of Nikocado Avocado"

-DonnaIRL, pop culture deep dives with a more psychological perspective (im pretty sure she's a psychologist). rec: "The Cult of David Dobrik: How to Keep a Group Obedient"
-Coffeehouse Crime, i used to really like true crime youtube, but after watching Pinely's video ("The Broken Morality Of True Crime Videos") i became disillusioned with the space. coffeehouse crime is the only channel i feel does it right and respects the victims. rec: "The Tinder Date Murdered By A Cult | The Case of Sydney Loofe"
