trixietea i actually relate to that a lot, growing up my family felt really disconnected. these days i understand more now knowing what my mother had to go through with my father, and so I appreciate how big my gf’s family is as I get to enjoy those connections. keep enjoying those rituals!! in the end, that’s what you will remember most fondly :))

Friday is your oyster. There are no expectations for Friday. Plans are a little more spontaneous. You can knock off work early and enjoy the waning daylight. It always feels like my time. I can stay in and cook something and unwind from the week and go to bed early for a full weekend ahead, or I can go out and stay up late and dance until 5am and unwind from the week or I can grab an early drink or dinner with buds and come home and watch a movie. Friday feels exciting and it feels like possibility.

you might say this is crazy ! you worked hard all week & want to relax as you enter the weekend & you’d be right to do that . But ! if you do even some of your household work the night before your real weekend , you’ll be able to truly relax that much more knowing that you aren’t putting off any house work to do so it’s a gift to your future self so you can have a full & fun guilt free weekend
caveat that i work in restaurants so my ’friday’ is actually monday & there’s nothing going on anyways so your own mileage may vary

I love it, even with the repetition and exhaustion. Unexpected benefit: losing sense of time. Every task, from feeding to putting her to sleep, takes as long as it takes. I’m not trying to control time or “be productive” in the same way I did pre-baby.
