worst is honestly a red delicious apple. the name is a marketing gimmick to distract you from the fact they are almost always mealy and disgusting.
There is nothing better than fresh cherries straight off the tree, those dark red beauties. Rainiers will do too. Runner up - honey crisp or pink lady apples.
