I was at a show organized by a guy who booked me for a show later in May and I went WITHOUT MAKEUP! i haven’t gone out at night bare faced in years so it was very liberating and fresh since it’s summer and foundation just won’t hold more than 15 min.

I did this recently on a date with someone who I met irl who asked me out. I generally don’t wear a ton of makeup anyways, and once I start up in a relationship with someone they’ll see me far more frequently without makeup than with makeup on. While I’m a firm believer that makeup drastically improves my appearance and that I’m pretty average/plain looking without it, I figure it’s a more honest depiction of my physical being to go without it. It’s a real challenge for me to go on dates without wearing any and it’s been an interesting experiment in letting go of my negative self-image.
Note: I don’t want this to be interpreted as anti-makeup propaganda. Make no mistake, i love a beat face and i love the art of applying makeup!! im just sometimes too lazy to bother, even for a date.

A year ago, I would’ve never left the house without makeup. Lately, I’ve been too busy to want to bother with it. I’m learning that a cool pair of glasses, a fun hat, or a colorful ascot can accomplish a lot more in a lot less time.

For some reason I feel prettiest when I’ve woken up in my makeup from the night before. My face makeup has worn away leaving me with light coverage and visible freckles. My eyeliner has smudged just enough to be visible under my eyes. My mascara is perfectly intact somehow. Maybe it’s just the confidence from a fun party the night before or maybe not. But I feel pretty :)
