i know a lot of people prefer the johnny cash cover, but the original is a song that i absolutely adore. such a hauntingly pure ending to such a raw, violent album.
the pain & tension in this song is so visceral… trent reznor was really goin thru some shit during his downward spiral era, but it produced some amazing music that i absolutely cherish
see the animal in his cage that you built
are you sure what side you're on?
better not look him too closely in the eye
are you sure what side of the glass you are on?
the original version of this song is of course beautiful, but the isolated keys and stripped-down vocals in this rendition are incredibly raw and make the lyrics even more poignant than they already are.
trent reznor really knocked it out of the park with this one
i go on roadtrips maybe once in a blue moon now, but i recently went to a natural park with a couple of girls, we stopped at some gas station and each bought one. really helped me through the next couple of hours
