My close friend in college wallpapered his entire room with tear outs from Playboy, our junior year I think. He also had this brown patchwork faux leather couch he presumably got for free that was absolutely hideous. My other friend got a rash just from sitting on it. Delightful!

🛋I already responded but this is a really big one. Homes used to be COZY!!!! My parents over the years have subscribed to the awful “magazine” style interior decorating like you see everywhere. They pulled out so many rugs and all the wallpaper. Fortunately they have a decent sense of decoration, our walls are covered in interesting things. Despite that the whole house used to be a lot more comfortable.. new style couches are awful and made to be looked at.. we have an island with awkward bar chairs that are uncomfortable and impractical.. I think this is an issue with new furniture in general, nothing is made for comfort. I miss having rug floors in my bedroom to lay on.. hardwood or tile is just not it.

🧶Even if you have other creative pursuits that require your brain to work, it’s fun to have one that requires very little thought or attention. I started crocheting a couple years ago and it’s perfect while sitting in front of the TV or listening to a podcast or just zoning out. Makes me feel productive even as my brain melts out my ears, and makes me feel creative even when I’m not doing any cooler, more challenging projects that require more of my energy.
