Borderline the only clothing store I shop at. Frank always has the goods, and the community he has built around the shop itself is just as special. In my eyes itâs the closest modern day equivalent to Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood's infamous shop âSEXâ in 70âs Londonâexcept ya know, less punky and more baggy.

Neighbour in Gastown has several stores (Menswear, Womenswear and Home) and they all carry amazing selection of brands. Everything from niche Japanese brands (Auralee, Comoli) to the popular contemporary labels (Our Legacy, Lemaire) or the ultra exclusive (Oliver Church). Not to mention the staff is very friendly and I always drop by the mens store to chat and get recs for local restaurants.

Hands down the best store in New York and nowhere else comes close. Itâs tucked away on Bond Street in SoHo and its owner, Sweetu Patel, keeps it stocked with a perfect mix of wardrobe essentials. He also designs a flawless house brand. Itâs an insiderâs store. Thereâs nothing fussy or trendy to find here. Itâs clean, itâs simple, and itâs rare that 90% of a storeâs stock calls oneâs name but CâHâCâM does just that. Plus, thereâs always someone well-dressed perusing the shopâs wares and if thatâs not a marker that youâre in the right place, Iâm not sure what is.

Though Massive Attack and Portishead often steal the trip-hop limelight (and perhaps rightfully so), Sneaker Pimp's 6 Underground is the real unsung masterpiece of the genre in my opinion. Itâs crafty sampling of John Barryâs Goldfinger Bond score, Kelli Aliâs arresting vocal, and Nellee Hooperâs bombastic beat create an effect that I can only describe as novacane. I thank my father for turning me on to trip-hop so early, as it soundtracked much of my youth through middle and high school.

Bed stuy bar which hosts vinyl DJs most nights- pin ball machines are in the back. The worn in wooden benches and drink deals makes it feel homier than a most full blown âclubâ environments, but the dance floor opens up spontaneously whenever necessary.
