i did a lot of driving in through the south this year (back and forth between the panhandle and gainesville and the panhandle and nashville). either romanticizing the countryside by listening to vaguely country music or keeping myself entertained with fast and loud sing-alongs.

In 2011 I was in a cab coming back to Brooklyn after a night out, Torn by Natalie Imbruglia was on the radio. It was one of those moments where you look out the window, see the city, and think, "Damn" I love it here. Regardless, the lyrics kicked in. From the backseat, I said "I love this song." The driver did too. He turned it up. We sang. He turned it up even louder. We sang even louder. If the vibe strikes, full send.
