I have a lifetime of writing, teaching, musing, etc. So much stuff. But I live on the road. I no longer have a homebase. So ... what to do with the paper? Some I have to keep (tax purposes and wills and things), but most of it I need a better way to absorb for future use. If you push a digital second mind app out, I am likely to test it within your first month. I am on that like a wet t-shirt in August. But I have not found my digital home. yet. Enter MyMind and MuseApp. Still playing with these and not willing to go the distance yet, but both offer some nifty upgrades to porting my papers hither and tither. Mymind is super private and provides some AI insights on my text and images. Sorts things pretty automagically and let's me grab text snippets like a boss. I am leaning toward walking the aisle with MyMind. Museapp has one advantage. https://museapp.com/#use-cases It allows me to put my hot mess of papers and musings on to boards ... and those boards can be printed!! So I can wrangle all of my thoughts about character Erika and then print a 10,000' view of Erika when I need a visual cue as I write about Erika. I know, I am talking about wrangling paper and then suggesting that I upload paper and reprint, but it's not like that. Or not totally like that. I need visuals of things at the aerial level. The aerial view of the stuff helps me sort the stuff into usable nuggets. Anyway. If you are hunting for a way to wrangle your thoughts and papers give these folks a try.

Somebody has probably already recd this before but I will not stop going on about notion. I am a very forgetful person, and it’s important for me to write stuff down or it will be GONE from my brain. Notion is the most customisable organisation tool you will have. If you would prefer something a bit more pre-structured I wouldn’t totally recommend it , BUT.. there are hundreds of templates out there that other users have created. I found it quite overwhelming at first starting with a blank page, so I used the template below to start, then customised it to my liking. I use notion most for note taking at uni, but you can practically use it for anything you can think of. (I also use it to save my fav baking recipes and also a budget tracker XD) You can get it on both desktop and phone as well and have everything synced up which is nice too. The only thing that it a bit annoying is that there is no auto spell check.. but pros outweigh the cons for me.

I can't tell you how much I love this app. It's a note taking app, but everytime you enter it, it creates a blank document. it makes it seamless to get thoughts out asap!!! It's super basic and bare bones, but having a blank digital document ready as soon as you click the app seriously makes all the difference! They automatically save and sync to your computer if you have the app on your desktop too, so it's easy to sort through and find things.

😃
Save and search all the things without organizing.
