Comment te dire adieu - Francoise Hardy

my favorite ‘60s french pop singer. i found out about her at my high school job, but i didn’t become as much as a fan as i am now until college. i absolutely love this song. her music just makes everything feel so romantic and cinematic. also i am just enamored with the album artwork. the whole album is amazing, definitely worth the listen.

Last summer I spent a lot of time pining over this boy that I had been on and off with for 2 years. He told me this one story about a long boozy summer lunch he had in Brittany and it wouldn't leave my mind. I so deeply wanted to be there and a part of a world where people have long boozy lunches in Brittany.  One thing I love about anything (food, movies, books, music) is if it makes me feel like I'm in a different time and place. I decided to fill my home with music that would transport me to Paris in the era of "Gigi", which is this radio station. It's so wistful and nostalgic of my past life as a sexually empowered courtesan. Also, things did not work out with that guy.

this month i’ve been listening to these two specific albums: zaho de sagazan — la symphonie des éclairs fleur de peau — contre-sens
but mainly i love listening to 60s music, my favourite french musician from that time is sylvie vartan, others i would recommend are: christophe, françoise hardy, jacques dutronc, zouzou, francis lai, delphine desyeux, and france gall <3

Never changing

My dad teases me about how when I was a little kid, my favorite thing to do when I was on the landline phone with somebody—be it a relative or one of my best friends—was to breathlessly describe the things that were in my bedroom so that they could have a mental picture of everything I loved and chose to surround myself with, and where I sat at that moment in time. Perfectly Imperfect reminds me of that so thanks for always listening and for sharing with me too 💌
