when i listen to this cover no longer am i a teenager living in europe, but in i am in fact a hard working country folk wearing levis and a cowboy hat, swaying slowly side to side with my country girlfriend as the final few occupants of the bar head home for the night as the sun finally sets under a dusty horizon this is actually one song of an album of covers of some of nick drakes most popular songs, but as you can probably tell this is my favorite from the bunch

So comfy. Feels like being under a warm blanket and reading a fun book about legends and stories of the old west, heroes and horses. The albums John Wesley Harding through Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid. Favorite songs: The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest, Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You, Days of ‘49, If Not For You (George Harrison also did a great version of this!)

This is the third Townes album I have listened to, and I think my favorite so far !! It’s a live album recorded in the late 70s. Townes is a songwriter who seldom wastes a word, and his storytelling feels both personal and mythical at once. He weaves his own life into both the straighforward ballads, and the outlaw country character portraits. Waiting Around to Die has brought me to tears on more than one occasion. My favorite song on the album at the moment is White Freight Liner Blues, a candid track about his struggles with heroin, and being sadenned to see his friends ailed by the same affliction. Townes is truly one of the great American songwriters.

one of the best concept albums of all time. follows a young woman named Ethel Cain (the character, not the artist) as she encounters various men and eventually meets her violent death at the hands of one of the men. truly visceral and even disturbing at some parts but so so good, really recommend giving it a listen
