both amazing are museums, very thoughtful and informative. NMAAHC is probably the best history museum i’ve been to. the numerous ways they’ve arranged the exhibitions (some by location, some by subtopic, some like a timeline) i haven’t seen before and they’ve curated so many artifacts and the amount of information provided in the descriptions is very thorough so you will definitely leave having learned a lot. i went once for a field trip and later returned to finish the upper floors. NMAI i went to for the first time this year, i didn’t have time to see it all but i did go through the whole exhibit on treaties and i learned so much that i didn’t learn in u.s. history classes growing up
additionally, the art museums in DC are all really good
