Somehow I got sucked into the chilling, vibrant, complex, horrifying, addictive world of Swedish, Norwegian and Icelandic crime novels. Expect deep psychological insight, a riveting plot, lots of passion, grand guignol scenes of horrific abuse, and a complicated, flawed, yet deeply human detective floundering through it all. Some authors to note are Lars Kepler (Sweden, featuring Finnish detective Joona Linna), Jo Nesbo (Norway, featuring alcoholic detective Harry Hole), Camilla Lackberg (a small Swedish village featuring crime-solving duo Ericka Falk and Patrik Hedstrom), Yrsa Sigurdardottir (Icelandic sleuth Thora Gudmondsdottir), and Mons Kallentoft (Swedish mother and detective Malin Fors). Expect to get hooked.

Something about murder in cold, Scandinavian settings is just nice. Finishing the third Stieg Larsson ‘millenium series’ book on the heels of Lars Kepler and Jo Nesbo books. Don’t get me started on the Wallander books

"My household is not a football-watching household, but if/when we watch: cat teams take precedence. If it's two cats against each other, geographical proximity to NC takes preference unless it's the Panthers. Animal teams rule if no cats are present. If no cat teams are playing, people rule over objects (what is a charger, anyway?), but if it's two people teams..."
