i’m 5’4, 180 pounds and i recently decided to sign up for my first 5k. not with the goal to finish first or anything, just to challenge myself and have fun. but when it comes up in conversation with clients, peers, etc. i get the same shocked face from everyone, looking me up and down as to remind themselves i don’t have the body of a “runner“. things like “oh.. YOU are doing a 5k?” “wow, are you like training orrrr?” “what? have you even done that before?” “are you even a runner?” “how are you going to do that?!”. i can feel their judgement and confusion on how someone that looks like me could do a 5k. and i hate that i care.

You get a free tshirt…and then you wear it and people are like “whoa did you run that?” And you’re like “yeah, I have another one next Sunday” and they’re like “damn queen”….also running is good for you

I ran a 7k and a 5k this week and I feel capable and strong and never thought I’d be one to enjoy running but it’s never too late to pick up a new activity!!!

sometimes estate sales make me so emotional. this one hit me especially hard because my boyfriend and i collect magnets from all the places we travel to and keep them on our fridge. it made me think, one day strangers will be rummaging through our magnets and all of the things we’ve curated together once we’re gone. instant tears.
