How this film didn’t get Western recognition like Parasite is beyond me. It is an absolute perfect film: stunning cinematography and production design, an excellent score and a story that keeps you constantly on your toes. Adapted from Sarah Waters’ Fingersmith and relocated to 1930’s Korea, this film is Park Chan Wook at his absolute best

I could NOT agree more. Not only is it visually stunning, incredibly HOT but it’s also just - the prestige-esque twists???? Incredible

I’m so mad that I’m so late. The editing is crazy on this one, I should’ve peeped this flick earlier. Park Chan-wook has done it again man, hit after hit. (Check out his movie The Handmaiden too, I know I know, Oldboy, but The Handmaiden doesnt get the love it deserves). Oh, and Tang Wei, bruh I will be checking out your next film because you killed this role. Destroyed.

Directed by Park Chan-wook.
I had whiplash and my jaw was on the floor after this movie. Also visually stunning.
Oldboy (2003) is also a trip if you want to feel really bad after.

Definitely wasted far too many of my teenage and early 20s years playing the ~*cool girl*~ and pretending to shun things I actually really liked. Coincidentally, a lot of these ‘embarrassing’ interests were basically just things targeted towards women. (Why was Twilight met with such vitriol by the public but Star Wars is an essential watch??) So like what you like! Wear it on a damn t-shirt! And ask yourself if it’s actually just misogyny that’s making you second guess it.

Beautifully written, the world and characters feel shrouded in mystery which is great for a reading slump because you’re immediately intrigued. An older couple in an Arthurian Britain embark on a journey to find their son. This one really hit me emotionally and I found myself thinking about it for weeks afterwards.
