I rec starting small. I love the Penguin Modern series, they’re tiny short books that fit in your pocket for you to take anywhere! Super quick read and VERY interesting publications (Susan Sontag, Kathy Acker, Andy Warhol, Carson McCullers, Franz Kafka etc..) + they’re super cheap 💾

A Study in Scarlet 123 pages: if you haven’t read it, it’s one of my favorite books. First in the Sherlock Holmes series, of course a series that has been made into other medias and remade so many times, but I feel it never does the books justice. The writing is good, the characters are amusing, it’s witty, I love it.
In Watermelon Sugar 138 pages: it’s a very bizarre and unique post-modern novel, it feels like abstract, free-verse poetry but is actually somewhat dystopian/post-apocalyptic in the way that 1984 is. The whole story takes place in a few days. There’s simple writing but made so universal and understandable that some things could allude to several meanings.
Wishful Drinking (Carrie Fisher’s!) 163 pages: I normally am not a huge memoir/autobiography fan, this one is such a treat though. Carrie Fisher’s wit, but she also touches on some darker subjects. Some funny little add ins like celebrity encounters and other information.
