She has some great resources on darning and she also hosts regular zoom workshops which are ideal. Also, I get a lot of my mending ideas from Orsola de Castro - her book Loved Clothes Last is a good introduction to sustainable fashion practices and clothes mending.
I have been mending and DIY-ing my own clothes for a while now, it’s sooooo liberating and fun :)

I believe I originally found this page through a @MARIANOLEONCZIK rec, but visible mending sounds like it may be up your alley! Especially for those weird pieces. The act of visible mending kinda adds a new sliver of art to your collection, while elongating the lifespan of your piece. barring of course the acceptance that you want your repairs visible. the page I tagged is a good example of this practice in motion!
If you’re looking to add invisible repairs to your pieces, check your local library, secondhand craft store, community center, etc. for classes. In my town, we have a tool library where they teach the average joe how to DIY. keywords would be: leatherwork, embroidery, tailoring, sewing, hemming

I’ve been really into decorative mending this year and I’m trying to learn how to repair more of my clothes rather than buying replacements. My thusband got me a handheld darning loom. I’m going to get some thread and try patching up a shirt tomorrow.

I recently got this wooden handle looking thing to mend clothes and it works so well. I love using sparkly thread for all my mending. Adds a little pizazz.
