visiting your friends with babies

They probably feel a little lonely, especially if they are one of the few people in your friend circle with kids right now. Be a good friend and brighten their day. If you really like them, wash some dishes for them. Also, it’s so fun to hold a baby and play with it for a couple of hours because you can always give it back to the parents. Babies smell good until they don’t, they are *usually* very cute, and all they really want is food and to take naps (relatable). What’s better than being the cool Auntie/Uncle/Unctie. Plus, again, you can give them back.

STRANGERS SMILING AT BABIES

Especially when the baby's parent is stressed and the baby is being fussy in public but the stranger is smiling and making faces at them to make them laugh. Or jingling their keys and jewelry to get the child's attention. And you can see the parent's relief and the stranger's delight. Especially when the stranger is an older person who clearly thinks the child is adorable and is really excited to have this moment.

best friend and i were yapping about how important it is to actually be celibate for a while and maybe even not date for a bit when you're single instead of hooking up until you find a partner. it sucks for a little bit and you are really forced to confront your demons and then one day you forget about it. whatever floats your boat but i think it's probably good for the soul to be celibate here and there and focus on other shit. i'll go like a whole year like it's nobody's business

disagreeing with theory while you read it

seems like up till maybe 50 years ago if you knew the right guy with a printing press you could get some wild credit for being the first person to have a mostly normal thought. no matter how poorly you articulated it! sometimes it feels like the only sane thing to do is create your own critical framework....you are no less powerful than These Guys. they just made some of this stuff up
