A true story spread out over two seasons about the yakuza wars of the late '90s in Japan (this series aired in 2022). The beginning of the end of that era is depicted here; crime syndicate membership fell by more than 70 percent in the 30 years between 1990, before the anti-yakuza law, and 2020, after the anti-yakuza laws and the yakuza exclusion ordinances took effect. Jake Adelstein = American hero.

Fun thriller/mystery show. Good characters and feels very real. If you‘re interested in the Yakuza and enjoy convincing villains I recommend this show.

It isn’t perfect, but god damn do I fuck with this show. All the storylines are compelling and come together in a really fluid and unforced way. Sato is one of my favorite characters in a long while, and his arc through the show is so compelling. Solid 8/10.

It’s got katanas, small kitties, male friendship, and beautiful cinematography of Tokyo at night.

Hey tyler hopefully this doesn’t violate some PI.FYI golden rule But after nearly two years of writing, editing and arguing, my book about the EP is coming out in May and can be preordered here: https://hozacrecords.com/product/aifl/ The book is about the origins, history and cultural impact of the EP since these little objects first started coming out in the 50s. Over 50 of my music biz friends then helped me shape the list and review the top 200 ever released, according to us (ha). For those of you who are into this kind of geekery/snobbery, I can’t wait to hear what you think. A labor of love, as all books are! ❤️
