Bro you gotta go and buy like $200 worth of samples from LuckyScent and Ajavie and then meticulously determine which $450 perfume will become your signature scent. Sadly, I have one for every occasion (including dinner with friends - summer and dinner with acquaintances - summer) but perhaps you can be better than me and just pick one.

le labo, ds & durga, and plenty of the other indie perfumers sell samples of their perfumes for like $3 a sample! luckyscent.com also has decants of like any scent you could want. buy a sample pack and try different scents out till you find one or two you really like. then think about what aspect of the scent you like, and buy other perfumes samples with similar notes. once you find one you really love, buy a bottle!
you may find that some scents work best during the night but feel overwhelming for work, or maybe they smell great in the summer but are a little too floral and fresh for winter… half the fun of perfumes :)

Getting to try some sample size fragrances for a decent price before you delve into the full size bottle is really where it’s at. Many fragrance websites offer this option, but if you don’t see it on the site, you could try emailing and inquire about samples and whether you can buy any.
Sampling some unique and complex fragrances that end up lasting a while, you really get to switch it up.

Maybe it’s just that I haven’t been on the side of the internet discussing Paloma Wool, but I feel like I haven’t seen any hype around the brand outside of 2020 and the swirl sweater (which was, to be fair, beautiful). They don’t have a very large size selection so like half of their products are already not going to fit, and the price point is too high for me to buy a bunch of sizes and figure out what will, or could. So for me, at least, it’s fallen out of favor. HOWEVER. I logged on recently to take a peek because they do have gorgeous gorgeous pieces and I like to peruse for inspiration, and I found these absolute beauties. I love Mary Janes, but I want mine clunky and weird. I think the chunky sole trend is literally atrocious, and I would never ever go anywhere near them. Enter these: they scream being nine years old and wanting cute shoes that you can also wear on the playground. (Not trying to self-infantilize here, just trying to explain the practicality I need in a shoe.) These are fucking awesome. Ending on a high note here. These are just so sporty and fugly and I love them.
