gave me intense discomfort in my tummy hahaha. I do not like yes/no statements. like wtf does “I enjoy taking risks” mean?! I need context! For lots of them I was either like “I don’t want to thumbs up or down any of them”. I am someone who NEEDS a ”neither agree nor disagree” option. this in itself probably tells you all you need to know. I am the master of nuance lmao

I said in another comment I think a ranking of each item per question would make more sense? But maybe it’s designed to select for extremely decisive people in leadership. I heard an alpha female psycho executive level leader talking about it and she was exactly the kind of person I would imagine would answer each question with no hesitation whatsoever lol

taterhole yeah if it had rankings id defo be able to do it. i often end up middling most because like yeah I take risks if the risk is releasing a new record or starting a new relationship, but no i don’t take risks with my health (for example). I like to be the centre of attention on stage, but not day to day. Everything is dependent on place and time and context! it blows my mind that anyone would think impulsive decisiveness without any of the facts required would be a good leadership skill, but i guess that’s probably one reason why the world is so fucked haha.

mouse yeah I think in some lines of work we need people who are like sociopaths who can make quick decisions but the problem is that these people also have no empathy, can tend to become corrupt, and then choose other people like them to work beneath them lol. Got to love it

As crazy as it sounds I don’t necessarily believe in the political compass test anymore

I’m sorry but there’s no way it represents every ideology, the questions can be incredibly limiting (some people may not even have opinions yet on the questions given like I did when I first took it in 9th grade or around that time), and also a scale shouldn’t be the go-to basis of representation for every ideology. Also this isn’t directed at the person who wrote the ask this is about the test itself I don’t want to attack anyone

Sorry lol, and absolutely no shade. I can say I’m obviously generally somewhere in the bottom left quadrant (as is pretty much everyone I follow on here). But I’d like to make the point that this compass does a couple of unfortunate things: 1. Flattens what may be someone’s wide-ranging spectrum of principles/values. This is an issue with these kinds of things when surveying large populations to get an average, but in this case it’s also sticky when an individual has values that don’t comfortably conform to the binaries presented. 2. Accepts and presents the deeply-ingrained false binaries of left v. right and libertarian v. authoritarian as political fact. 3. Encourages, overtly or otherwise, people to define their political views oppositonally. Maybe I’ll get into this in a big rec, but this is the core problem with all of our systems! Variations of this can be helpful though – ones that are designed to help you figure out how you align with candidates/parties in a specific election, for example. This works a bit better in countries with multi-party systems though, so uh… Anyway, please carry on as you were!

I would disagree with this i'm very much not moderate haha. the scope of the questions on this one is too narrow, I feel like my political compass one is a better representation. both are reductive by nature tho.
