its the perfect blend of fiction and nonfiction. Capote is a journalist and wrote the book after investigating a murder but he writes the book as if it were fiction from the perspectives of the victims and killers. He fills in the gaps with dialogue that may have taken place and the feelings the victims might have had during the home invasion. Itβs a true story but very engaging read, plus it has a beautiful cover!
Basically birthed the true crime genre / creative non-fiction genre. Capote was a problematic figure, even as he wrote this book, becoming entangled with his subjects in a compelling way. And his writing is beautiful.
