There were some Free Sales in my neighborhood like 2 weeks back, and a lady was giving away 3 linen dresses. One is black and gray striped (pictured below, of course I have no actually decent photos of it), one was a yellowy-green that was the same shape as the black and gray one, and the last one is this orange and purple and yellow 90s print drop waist tank dress. They all look so cute with a harness or vest or belt over top and they were exactly what I have been looking for from sustainable clothing brands. I got mine for FREE when all the brands were (understandably) charging $100+!

lulu’s is classic dress shopping — can be a bit boring but generally fair prices for average quality.
I recently bought a dress to attend a wedding from petal & pup and they have tons of cute options + good quality stuff. I ordered 3 dresses to try on and sent back the ones I didn’t love.
Baltic Born is a place like p&p that has cute stuff too.
reformation stuff is GORG and high quality if you feel like spending $$$
my pals say rent the runway is also a cool way to get a knockout dress without having to shell out too much, but I’ve never used it personally

I usually start at depop or poshmark (bc these outfits are often only worn once, ppl love to resell them).
If you need a specific color there are a million sites w/ expansive color swatches and affordable options (lulus, aw bridal, etc).

This is annoying advice but love has always come to me when I’m not looking for it. When I get very active in things I’m passionate about (usually leftie organizing but also art and history stuff and also just spending time with friends a la the friends of friends rec) I meet new people and find interesting, aligned folks.

I got my current role by rage applying and it’s weirdly great but still whenever I get mad at it, I either update my resume (I’m only able to boast about my work when I’m mad at my job!) or randomly apply to roles - it gives you a task to focus on and it could end up changing your life for the better.
