the first run in new sneakers is always crappy. Terrible. Twist my ankle a dozen times, feel like im on stilts, barely have any control. But the second run?! I feel like i am invincible! running at the speed of light!! Even though after the run i check and my pace was totally flat ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌbut still, i feel so much better when getting into new shoes, run efforts feel so much easier. My new asics novablast 3s arrived earlier this week and yes i know they are butt ugly but this model is my favourite and its the only colour they had in my size on sale. Just look at the cushion on those puppies!!

I love Asics and that is 100% the experience of new running shoes. I'm on GT-2000's rn, why do you like the Novablasts?

lucius i like the cushion on the novablasts, without the shoe feeling heavy or bulky. All of my run these days are 10-12k + and i also ran my last marathon in these. I felt safe and secure in them the entire way, and not at all bogged down. I havent run in gt 2000! Do you like them?

rhoffer I like them! I came from Brooks Ghosts, which feel springy to me, and the GT-2000s felt mushier which worried me. They run different but feel amazing now that they're broken in. Keeping me injury free as I train for a half

rhoffer It's called the Lucius Half. I wake up one day in the spring and run 14 miles all by myself and then hang up my running shoes for the rest of the year lol

When I tell you that my running shoes are my multi-purpose *everything* shoe I mean it. These shoes are my farmers-market-prowling, bar-stomping, book-store-perusing, 3-mile-running, tourist-town-walking, park-people-watching, trail-shuffling shoes.
(and the cycle begins again because I just bought another pair)

Agree with you on Cliftons, Iโ€™ve always felt like the arch on those was too high for me.
Asics seem to be the darlings of the last couple years with less hype around the Saucony Endorphin line. Depends what kinda feel you want but all these are cushioned well just will have a different response. Novablast a bit leaner, responsive faster feel Nimbus well cushioned slower feeling Superblast bouncy and well cushioned. Its technically over stack height for races I think, but I credit that shoe for keeping me in the game over some heavy training periods. Iโ€™d lean Novablast for shorter efforts.
NB 1080 and Rebel 4 are getting some good reviews.
There are so many good shoes out there right now from tons of brands.
My personal rotation at the moment Atreyu Daily Trainer 1 and have the 1.2 to be delivered today. NB Rebel 2. Favorite shoe ever, itโ€™s old but I stocked up on pairs and now theyโ€™re getting up there in miles. Thinking Topo Cyclone 2 next? Asics Superblast Norda 001 for the trails.

Bought these on a whim for $100 the other night after taking an edible and pretty much forgot until they shipped. Willing to concede that this might be bc i mostly wear boots and salomons, but these shoes feel like walking on marshmallows comparatively on the first day so Iโ€™m excited to see what they feel like when theyโ€™re broken in. They lowkey look like orthopedic/dad shoes but in a way that I actually kind of fuck with. theyre also maybe a little more norm core than I expected. im still basically evaluating them as a Design Object

Context: i am feeling reflective after running a race yesterday and finishing slower than i had hoped. Putting in work to achieve a desired outcome, but coming up a bit short... you still worked hard and made a valiant effort! Go you!! You went for it and, all things considered, probably did a great job objectively; everyone else is likely in awe & wildly impressed by [insert achievement here].
We are our own worst critics. But we are also our greatest cheerleaders. Keep working hard and setting goals - and remember that a goal you set is just a goal that you set!! Hashtag character building
