in terms of poetry i’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed: ashley obscura’s “ambient technology” was a great read; a very modern approach to poetry but still grounded in beautiful prose!

your website has an incredible aesthetic; i appreciate your artistic sensibilities! my favorite piece was "tethered", you can feel yourself melting along with the words the further you read

avril thank you so much, those are such kind and thoughtful observations! "tethered" is definitely one of my favourites and is especially dear to me. do you have any poetry (or art in general) to share? i'd love to check it out :) also, side note: just realized you’re underscores lol - i love your music! “del mar county fair“ had my best friend and i in a choke hold for like months lol

thenheturnedaround i unfortunately am not underscores, though i do love her music as well! it's probably the eyebrows haha, but i am flattered by the comparison. i do have a substack with some poetry if you're interested in checking it out, the publication is called "tender-hearted" :)!

avril holy shit this is incredible poetry! your prose is so delicate yet impactful… my favourite poems are either “we are buried under hourglass’ dunes” or ”i was a vessel for your ache”. the former is such a vivid description of the desert, i can feel the heat and subtle breeze radiating from the words. the latter is simply incredibly powerful. not much more i can say that would do your writing justice here. you should be proud! this is exceptional !

This is the greatest love of my life (and, in a sense, my career given my future MFA career, stay tuned), but you really should read more poetry in general. It's fantastic. okay yes "Instagram poetry" is en vogue hot garvage and frankly, makes me sick to my stomach, but poetry as an art form which contains and focuses experience, emotion, and attention, is one of the most profound things (ideally) we continue to produce. Poetry is, in a sense, something which moves towards a potentiality of art and writing in general in a current moment where it seems almost lacking. What, then, can we do as poets or writers?
