Something my mom would always tell me. If your paycheck allows, make it work! Iām a Capricorn so you know I love budgeting and have $30 set aside for my monthly floral needs. Unfortunately I donāt make boutique bouquet money as a teacher but assembling grocery store flowers is enough to satisfy me :) Sure they donāt last long but the flicker of joy you feel every time you look at them is priceless baby!

In my older years (late 20s) Iāve come to appreciate the simplicity and vibrancy of flowers in the home. I used to not like flowers because of their short life span and thought it was a waste of money, but supporting local florists and making my home more aesthetically pleasing has been a form of self care and joy. Now I grab a random assortment have my friends and I make bouquets as an activity !

I used to be a bit of a āflowers are a waste of money, theyāll just dieā person. But now Im shocked at how much joy they bring me. Iāve had an awful week and then living overseas from my family is made harder around holidays. So I marched myself to the flower market in my neighborhood and got some for myself. I smile to myself every time I see them and I think thatās well worth the money in a hard time

to be honest iām not sure why this is considered a lower-effort gift or piece of decor for yourself. i buy fake flowers and plants often for my room bc i absolutely cannot be entrusted w taking care of real plants and having to deal w their decay is both sad and a technical mess. i fear i am in fact part of the āwhy buy real ones, they dieā camp - but at least i donāt use that as an excuse to not get flowers at all. that to me is even strangerā¦arguably flowers (as a gift/not decor) last even longer when theyāre artificial so thatās even MORE of a reason to get someā¦

I wish I could re-rec with an image but this is in reply to @MARIAMARIAās rec. I had to dig way back in my photos to 2022 and find the clay cow tools I made. Unfortunately, I abandoned them so they never got fired but maybe Iāll re-visit the project once I can afford pottery classes again.
