Some very hard hitting lyrics and themes about ego death and finding yourself, paired with the best fusions of glitch pop and midwest emo I've ever heard in my life. Of course this was going to win me over on just the first listen. I found out about Brakence through his feature on "A La Carte," by Quadeca, one of my favorite songs of this year (2024). Immediately I was hooked through his unique voice. It only takes a good couple of hours to listen to his short but impressive catalogue, and I loved every second of it. Seriously check this guy out

playing the entire h1ss1ng pr1gs album lately but recommend this track. my brother played a brainiac mixtape when he was driving me around in 2001, and this specific song gave me a ear adjustment but not in a “this is loud“ way. it was a formative experience lol

More stuff I've put on our Breakthrough Electronic playlist. I hate when people say this but I honestly laughed out loud when I saw this artist name. Turns out it's Stefan Schwander from Düsseldorf who's done a lot of stuff but if you take on a new name I think you get to be "emerging" again. "Burton" is both charming and a bit spooky, minimal-ish at 110bpm but with a subtle swing to the beat, I kinda want to just put it on repeat and lope around my house doing weird dances.
