27 DAY STREAK LEARNING MANDARIN CHINESE

I restarted learning Mandarin at the start of this month! 🗣️🗣️ It's been fun picking it back up and realising I did learn a thing or two from those many Saturdays at Chinese school throughout hs......! Going to the motherland for the first time in June! 😋🍚🍚🍚

immerse yourself in the language

i'm a native portuguese speaker, currently fluent in English and studying mandarin for two years. I'm going to admit, i still feel like a begginer, mandarin is known for having a complicated learning curve, but taking in consideration my experince with english, it really is about surrounding yourself with the language. I guess it's the most common advice, but it does work! To past time go on 小红书, look for films and series in Mandarin, and if you are watching on netflix you can use language reactor extension on browser that offers double subtitles. Make a spotify playlist with songs in the language, and once in a while print the lyrics with a few missing words and try to complete them when listening to the song. Another think that helped was to play games of forming words by combing hanzi flashcards. Doing it with a few friends forces you to think fast and expose youself, especially if you still feel insecure with your skills. I wish you the best and good luck with your learning process!

creating more

This was one of my new years resolutions: creating more stuff and not being satisfied by simply consuming media, art, coffee etc. I felt like I was floundering and too caught up with work to really find the time to explore this side. I should also preface this by saying I'm definitely not someone who identifies as a creative person. However, pi.fyi has been a cool way to do this with no risk or fear. Sure, my posts are dumb jokes and it's completely meaningless but it makes me feel alright and it's fun to interact with you freaks.

Get a little slutty when you drink water

it helps quench your thirst if you chug desperately, throwing in a bit of unnecessary eye contact, little water droplets running down your neck giving you a chill, letting out a moan when you finish drinking…. I think I hauve covid
