i love walking around chinatown, people watch, get a beverage, pop into some of the free galleries in soho. i also often walk across the williamsburg bridge from bushwick it's fun to go through different neighborhoods :)

my usual routes are ridgewood to greenpoint or LES to union sq. i just started doing bottom of central park to harlem through the uws and itβs lovely. Want to do a big flushing excursion soon. Pop into places along the way, walk down quiet streets

it's spring. there are some good parks in brooklyn. walk over, get some fresh air, find some cafe, get a bite on your way back, or maybe pick up like one ingredient to make dinner with, something like that.
if you wander by some bowling alley or arcade or karaoke club, pop in. Personally, my goal there would be to have a fun time with strangers, but you could just do your own thing.
if you're in manhattan, go up to the bar on the roof of some hotel, don't even bother getting a drink, just appreciate their view. or get a drink, they're expensive but often tasty.
wander. the city is dense and walkable.

In virtually any weather at any speed walking from downtown to midtown is one of my favorite activities. If you are bored itβs just a really nice activity to do by yourself or with a friend. It's really meditative, you see neighborhoods change and can look at all these different things on the way. There are some fun places to stop on the way, like Kaluystayans and Dover Street Market or the Morgan Library. Once I arrive in midtown I like going to the Paris Theater, The Grill, or Ice skating in central park. MoMA can be fun too.
