Bobby Gillespie used to be the first drummer in the Jesus & Mary Chain. But he also had his own band, Primal Scream, who flitted back and forth between C86/shambling pop and Southern-fried rawk. In between those disparate poles came this album.... god bless producer Andy Weatherall (you can find some amazing mixes of his up on the YouTubes) for helping Bobby and crew discover MDMA and a whole new comedown-room sound. If you wanted to know what the baggy-trousered early 90s sounded like, you could just flip between this and Happy Mondays.

It's cool that Pulp were around since like 1983 making music nobody cared about and then around like 1992 decided "It's time to get freaky", what if a Yorkshire boy got down freaky style, London style. Remarkably fun songs, probably my favorite British band of the early-mid 90s? hard to say

Hey tyler hopefully this doesn’t violate some PI.FYI golden rule But after nearly two years of writing, editing and arguing, my book about the EP is coming out in May and can be preordered here: https://hozacrecords.com/product/aifl/ The book is about the origins, history and cultural impact of the EP since these little objects first started coming out in the 50s. Over 50 of my music biz friends then helped me shape the list and review the top 200 ever released, according to us (ha). For those of you who are into this kind of geekery/snobbery, I can’t wait to hear what you think. A labor of love, as all books are! ❤️
