i mostly played ds games as a kid but for some reason this pc game that i used to play at my parents’ enormous iMac G3 comes to mind. it’s a point and click adventure game where you’re a little anthropomorphic detective fish with a sidekick named luther (nothing funnier to a seven-year-old than a fish named luther). i think the one i played was freddi fish and the case of the haunted schoolhouse, which was juuuust creepy enough to interest me while still being age appropriate

For some reason, we would only play this when visiting our grandparents, who only had one phone line so we could never use the computer when somebody was on or needed the phone. If you picked up the phone when we were on the Internet, the dreaded dial up tone blast in your ear. This game is really simple, but we were obsessed with it. I don’t remember playing a lot of games on my own computer, but I was definitely a preteen that was lying in chatrooms. My younger cousins also introduced me to Happy tree friends…

my grandma took the photos for this book and they’re so nostalgic for me, lots of stuffed animals i used to play with when i visited her house :’) also just such a sweet book! the author writes earnestly at length on subjects like Feeding Your Stuffed Animal, Handling and Grooming, Training Your Stuffed Animal, Health and First Aid, etc.

with a tray of course to prevent crumbs in the bed… delightfully indulgent, harmless yet sinful, and very meditative
