see some design on pinterest you like? set aside 2 hours and do it. chip the paint? fix it for free. bonus points if you get overcome by gel polish fumes and have to lie down for an hour afterwards, its part of the DIY experience.

Iโve been doing my own nails for over a year now and I love it! I started off with the same colors I used to get all the time at the salon and once I got the hang of it branched out. Now that Iโve been doing it long enough Iโm buying a nicer drill, light, storage, and more gels. I also just started swatching some colors today like my own little nail salon lol.
Iโve saved SO much money doing this, the thought of how much I spent in just a year on nails before is crazy now. With how cheap doing my own nails has become Iโve also been more comfortable trying new colors all the time now that itโs not so expensive if I end up hating a color lol. My nails also last SO much longer. I can basically go 3 weeks with no chips most of the time (unless I want to change the color sooner) and I work with my hands a lot and do a lot of cooking and dishes. The only worry there is the grow out lol.
Just make sure you get a light that plugs into the wall and ensure itโs strong enough to cure gel, always clean gel up off of you if you get it on yourself (allergies donโt happen instantaneously like tik tok will have you believe, but they can develop over time with overexposure), and practice makes perfect!

I like looking down at my cute nails and thinking โI did that!โ
Pros- way cheaper than a salon, less damaging (no dremmel sanding off my nail bed or UV lights), easy to fix if a nail breaks or chips, you can get really good at it, you can always change up your look on the fly, and you can decide what brands/ products you use.
Cons- my office smells like nail polish/ nail polish remover for a little bit. Have to be patient and let them dry.
