No but it’s seriously helpful and I wish I did it more than like once every two weeks. Use an app like Headspace, Calm, or Insight Timer and try the shortest option they have, 1-2 minutes. Or even just set a timer on your phone (with a nicer alarm tone) for a couple minutes and just close your eyes and breathe (even just lying down in bed, doesn’t have to be sitting up. The rare times I can do this consistently, I feel so much calmer and just more content in the interior, makes me reach for my phone a whole lot less.

If you haven’t meditated before, I suggest downloading the Headspace app. I assume they still have a free intro set that teaches the basics. You can use those techniques like controlling your breath or doing a body scan to try to calm your mind. Also a psychiatrist told me somestudy showed that putting your phone on airplane mode at night helps. Don’t just put away to charge, put it in airplane mode so you know there’s nothing updating and no notifications you’re missing. Good luck!

I have been in the most consistent meditation habit since getting the Calm app because it really takes a lot of the thinking out of it. HOWEVER, there are tons of free resources on youtube and guided meditations released as podcasts. I feel like a big thing for me has been having a good mix of actual meditation and activities that put me in to a sort of similar headspace. A big one for me is going on walks and bird watching. I also find it easiest anytime I can sort of restrict myself in a way (ie im in the bath tub, wearing an eye mask, laying under a weighted blanket) to help keep myself in it.

If you’re super busy but still want to sneak in some meditation, Simple Habit is pretty handy. It’s got these quick five-minute sessions that are perfect when you’re short on time. Plus, they have meditations for stuff like stress and sleep, which is great. You might want to give it a shot! Just a heads-up, though, it does cost $12 a monthly and $60 a yearly.
