Not if you want to leave your neighborhood or general area, let alone get from the east to the west side, or vice versa. If time is not an issue, then public transportation is doable, but its definitely not a very straightforward process. I mean, even having a car does not necessarily make it easy to get around. There's a reason LA is meant for/attracts people with unconventional jobs or needs.

there is nothing more freeing than taking the bus or a bike around la. the city is yours for the evening, your night can go anywhere, parking is distant thought that no longer troubles you.

Which the internet defines as good if amenities are within 0.4km or 5min.
When I look at this in my own life, I compare my Manhattan apartment (across the street from a grocery store and within a block of many restaurants, drug stores, bars, the post office, etc.) to where I’m spending the summer in California (within a 20 minute walk of a grocery store and a couple of other businesses, but as a rule if I leave the house I’m jumping in the car).

I cannot stop moving my bed around my room. I've had more than 3 arrangements since July, but I think I finally found the perfect spot. I'm so safe and tucked in. This is a reminder to never be satisfied because the little wins feel so good.
