same vein as cherimae (can’t tag for some reason lol), this book was really an experiment in empathy and forgiving for a first-gen immigrant. also talks a lot about contemporary workplace politics and just the monotony of modern life but I found it to be optimistic ultimately. Very well written and you can finish it in like 3 days.

Every time someone mentions Severance, I’m always thinking about this book by Ling Ma. It’s incredible, I finished it in one day, I was anxious the entire time.

if there’s a sad asian girl book ill read it and this one was stunning and crushed my heart with its relatability. short stories w protagonists managing their lack of self worth, feeling undesirable, being around white ppl, feeling weird as fuck in america, etc.

It’s short, I read it in one sitting and it seasoned the next few days. Everything felt off, like there were undercurrents you couldn’t see

Very long walkways, dotted with smoking lounges. Marble, ambient music, the occasional military patrols armed with ARs. Urinals with petite candle icons so you know where to aim.
