much is to be said about weezer particularly its cache in the Internet age and my (complicated) feelings about Pinkerton, but I did a Blue Album relisten on behalf of nostalgia and realized this is like, a sublime power pop song, still as good when I was 13!

the album Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys was so incredibly produced by Brian Wilson i consider myself lucky to live at a time where such music is so easily accessible :) ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ก

๐I must have been 8 or 9 when this album came out. I only heard it because an older family friend showed me. It was the first album I ever heard that wasnโt filtered through my parents, and that a cool 13(-ish) year old girl was showing me only made me more fascinated with it. I felt like I was in on something, even if the record ended up going platinum six times over.
But the reason I can say itโs my favorite album is that itโs actually good. The songs are catchy and accessible, but not without depth. It has some of Stephan Jenkins trademark cringe (try listening to any other 3EB album and its everywhere), Kevin Cadogan was able to blunt his worst instincts.
Listening to it in recent years leaves me with a feeling of aneomia โ a strange sort of nostalgia for the life I imagined a cool young adult living in 1997.

While I wait for cute girl to message back... I'll write about this song! I've always heard this song on the radio growing up + Today, Tonight Tonight, ya know the most popular... anyways I remember I was in middle school and one night my BFF and I watched music videos in the basement all night long (fun activity to do w friends btw) and we stumbled upon the music vid for this song and I thought it was the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life lol. I started expanding my music taste in middle school and realized damn I really like music that sounds like this!!! i never skip this song and I associate it with special memories <3 Smashing Pumpkins got some hits....
