I normally feel weird about reading music books like I should find inspiration from within myself or something. Or if Iā€˜m going to read have it be something more heady. Then I realized you can read two (or more) books at once and also it doesnt really matter that much. This book is helping me recognize the ā€œwork sucks i want to rockā€ mentality that has been burgeoning within me the past year or so.

My friend Bob Mehr's book! One of the best books about music/popular culture (or, "not so popular," ha) I've ever read. You really get a sense of just how chaotic and hard their lives were for such an extended period. You also really feel for Bob Stinson at a variety of points along the way. I was in the audience for the "Sorry Portland" show and it was every bit as hilarious and bad as described here. Can't recommend this book enough.

coreydubrowa for sure I really appreciate how much time is spent on everyones backgrounds going back like generations. So cool to see music writing with this much empathy.

I love finding wisdom in trite, intentionally wise and clever places (ex. Musicals) I feel like I’m always in a place where I could learn or know more about myself or why I am internally structured the way I am. Reading self help books can be a vibe and it is one to me. Just read ā€œThe Mountain is Youā€ that one was nice, ā€œAtomic Habitsā€ is amazing, love Joe Dispenza across the board.

The creative process can be extreme humbling. I’ve started reading the artists way because I’m hoping to find something. This is not exactly an ask but if you know any other books or have any recommendations along the same lines of anything that helped you along the way, feel free to share. Thank you, bye x

I read and stared at every page of this book in the first few days I lived in the new little home-behind-my-studio, a very emotionally intense time. I had been a long time fan of the interdisciplinary design studio, Bless — wore their clothes, coveted their objects — Ā withoutĀ reallyĀ understanding the scope of what they do. I think this happens with all of us artists who don’t fit cleanly into a category — Ā it’s a lot to expect people to understand every nuance of your intentions. But a book can do it; I really got it. The book set the tone for how I was living and thinking in this new space and this new chapter of my life — which I am thinking might be the whole second half until the end.

Obviously play with your cat. But if you play with your cat ten minutes before meals you simulate the natural hunting instinct. Curbs misdirected aggression and also I think makes them enjoy their food more. Just my two cents.. that Jackson Galaxy agrees with.

Me and my girlfriend have been getting into tennis its so fun. Your body moves in a really great way when you play and makes you feel glad. I still suck but am starting to be able to get a volley going from the backline. It is a good feeling to hit that ball right and run around. Almost as good as soccer.
