probiotic gummies are a godsend. oatmeal too ( I eat the dinosaur egg ones because I am a child.) and replacing dairy when you can. (oatly's barista edition is so good. It replaced regular regular milk in my cereal. I'm so close to being in remission. but the emotional part is fucking me up because it's a whole ass lifestyle change that I'm just not used to... (the hardest part is giving up caffeine. I would shotgun two redbulls in the morning and then go about my day. I quit cold turkey but boy do I miss the caffeine. Coffee doesn't work in the same way)

Steph!!! Thank you so much for sharing this. and so soon after a diagnosis! I can’t emphasize enough how much that fact alone will help your journey. It took me a long ass time to tell ANYONE (for obvious reasons… I was 14 and embarrassed as hell) but I do know the quicker you can come to terms with this new reality and connect with others living a similar path, you WILL be better off. Your future-self will thank you for the courage to accept, revaluate, and keep going. I’m relieved to hear you are already finding relief with certain things and think that’s a wonderful sign🙌 dairy, gluten, caffeine, most processed foods, and some sugars might as well be the devil for most I know with IBD🥲 I wonder if you have Chron’s or Ulcerative Colitis? Maybe figuring it out? Anyways, I’ve been living with UC since I was 14 (now 27) and have a somewhat overwhelming number of thoughts and tips for you… but don’t worry I wont bombard you more than I already have😂 PLEASE feel free to reach out to me if you need to vent or have any questions. I know these things can be inherently embarrassing, so I also have some YT videos I made I can send your way that you can listen to when you feel safe and have the urge❤️ IBD gang stick together💩❤️‍🩹

am still a noob to being lactose intolerant(wow yall really have been living like this and pushing thru🫡god choses the strongest) but so far my steps to overcome the aftermath of accidental lactose ingestion for those who need it are as follows i. realise today u will suffer ii. speed walk to the store with the 30 minutes of respite u have before the next wave of pain iii. buy kombucha(ginger and/or citrus flavor, bonus points checking ingredients for what acids they contain cause a lot have lactic acid that eats up the lactose so ur stomach doesn't have to), 1-2 oranges, easy proteins like tofu/chickpeas/various legumes-stuff like vegan meats have that all ready to go so i rec those, 1-2 avocados, bunch of water if u dont do tap iv. suffer again v. alternate like a 8oz glass of water and 8oz cup of kombucha w/ like 15-minute intervals so ur not just flushing ur system and ur body actually absorbs it vi. eat an orange, painfully digest orange for 15-20 minutes vii. more water+kombucha viii. slightly less suffering but lots of tummy rumbles ix. chow down on whatever combo of protein/avocado u got, painfully digest for 20-40 minutes x. more water and kombucha if u have(id say like minimum try to drink like 16-20oz of kombucha collectively but shits expensive and in my opinion nasty so do what u can) xi. eat the second orange if u have one xii. tummy rumbles and bouts of the stabbing pain but probably no more scary bathroom trips, eat light dinner like fruit/avo, best to avoid breads or starches cause that makes ur stomach work too hard

I mean talk to your doctor etc etc, but as a chronically ill person with frequent nausea (which is strangely not one of the primary symptoms/uses they list on the front of the box??), these save me usually within 30 minutes of taking them. 🙌🏻
