didn't have an ice machine for the longest time, but now i'm back with my parents for a bit and they have a somewhat fancy refrigerator with and ice and water dispenser! i had been going for cubes and living my best life. yesterday, someone else had set the ice settings to crushed, and i was in awe of the texture!!!!

for many years whenever i see pictures of ice/glaciers and sometimes snow too, or being around snow, i just really want to eat it. like if it was eatable in a comfortable way, but retained its characteristics in essence.
lately i have discovered 1-2 pieces of ice in the blender, on demand, and eating that satisfies a core desire along the same lines. i used to scrape off the ice from the top of the ice cube tray cover and eat it like a little freak and now i have infinite supply of increased quality
it brings me great joy i love ice snack

Considering the fact that I know almost nobody with an ice maker built into their fridge who isn't my mom, the countertop ice machine is a criminally under-discussed revolution in kitchen technology. I HATE refilling those horrible trays and spilling water everywhere and never having ice when I need it. Mine is hot pink and cranks out so much ice in like 15 minutes. Honestly changed my life. I make fancy shaken cocktails on a whim now

my house has the oldest fridge know to man, and there’s famously no freezer space. but my new york sublet has an icemaker. freezing cold water has been tasting better than soda lately, and that says a lot coming from me. sometimes i squeeze in a cheeky lemon before my fire escape cig

being sincere is in, thinking you’re always the most interesting person in the room is OUT.
take the opportunity to learn from this random human you have crossed paths with at the function. make a big impact with a little, casual convo. what are they into? how did they get into their line of work? what did they eat that day? what is their biggest fear? (lol) small talk is only shallow if you let it be.
tell someone working in a super busy place that they’re doing great and you hope they get a breather soon. compliment an outfit you like when you see it. tell someone when you notice their beautiful smile. quick interactions =/= insignificant

very satisfying to prolong the life of things in a world where not very many things are made to last. just applied renovating cream to my blundstones. cleaning my car, sewing up holes or tears in clothing, trimming the wicks of candles, and using slip-on covers for old books fall into this category too
