Last year, I fucked up my skin barrier by using too many expensive products that contain 7000 ingredients. Had to cease all skincare except for face wash and moisturizer - CeraVe healed me (plus a bunch of steroid creams). When I was finally able to introduce products back into the routine, my derm recommended this retinol because it is chill and has few ingredients. Works super well & does not irritate my skin at all.

This one's for the girlies (and anyone else who's into skincare) - as an elder, I wish I had committed to using retin-a (tretinoin) sooner. some things I like about tret are: 1 - not having to pay attention to the million new products out there, I have become immune to marketing (I still get to try new moisturizers, HAs, and Vit C serums) 2 - it makes you remember to wear your sunscreen daily, I'd be terrible about that otherwise 3 - no more fine lines (if you don't have any, using will delay you getting them) 4 - you can now order it online from most places without having to spend money on a derm 5 - a tube will last longer than most products from sephora and costs as much/less - more bang for your buck 6 - supposed to be good for acne, I cannot report on that, but others swear by it i've generally had good skin and get the "you're how old? noooo" but I wish I had committed in my early 30s to build the habit and do more preventative maintenance. yes the purge/peeling sucks, but once you get on the other side supple babyface glass skin awaits you.

i’ve had crazy hormonal pcos chin and hyperpigmentation stuff going on for like 10 years and i scar from acne really easily, so this was my life’s mission to figure out. everything that @MARXINISTA said! i don’t have rx retinol but i use the ordinary’s .2% retinol w/ squalene at night (wont break the bank) followed by (blasphemy to some bc it’s not face lotion) palmers cocoa butter lotion. i break out over everything but this lotion does not exacerbate that, i promise! in the mornings, i use axis-y dark spot correcting glow serum w/ niacinamide followed by whatever moisturizer suits your fancy (pyungkang yul has some good, gentle dark spot stuff if you’re interested) and then an spf (crucial). i saw results super fast using both the axis-y and the ordinary products! if you can double cleanse that also helps. i use palmers cocoa butter oil cleanser followed by a traditional facial wash with tea tree oil. good luck :)
